What is a Backflow Assembly?
A backflow assembly prevents Backsiphonage and Backpressure of contaminated water from being reintroduced into the public water supply.
Why do I need/have a Backflow Assembly?
A Backflow Assembly or Backflow preventer can be installed outside in conjunction with your sprinkler system. An assembly could also be installed inside a commercial building attached to Fire Suppression Systems, Sprinkler systems, pop or ice machines.
Who requires that my Backflow Assembly be tested?
The Washington State Department of Health has mandated testing requirements and policies. Your water purveyor has implemented these testing requirements and procedures.
How often does my Backflow Assembly need to be tested?
If your Water Purveyor has implemented the testing process, a Backflow Assembly must be tested on a yearly basis by a Certified Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT).
